Already pulling in a thousand views on Youtube, JADDA’s “03” is a New York banger awaiting. Albeit, it pulls from the trap sonics of the South, and drill-inspired sensibilities of the UK, it still carries that legendary, lyrical essence of the East Coast. The BKAY-produced record spotlights JADDA as an upcoming magnet for modern, Brooklyn rap. Through the pinging triangles, hellish melodies, and indomitable drums, the Empire State rapper unquestionably shows off. He batters the beat with no consideration for the heat he discharges, resulting in a fiery anthem that every burrow will ultimately embrace. For, “03” is that igniting. Alongside 22Gz, Casanova 2x, Young M.A., and other contemporary reflectors of Brooklyn rap, JADDA is yet another example of New York Hip-Hop’s evolution. Only his is positioned to create a tidal wave about the East Coast, and wash an energy onto the city that has never been felt before.

Like a romantic molasses, Da Twin Prince will slowly slide into your heart. Not empty-handed either; in tow, will be his brand new, anthemic love-song, “Preparation and Practice”; all you’ll need to fall head over heels for this Brooklyn talent. As custom of new-wave, alternative R&B, “Preparation and Practice” is commenced with a pitched down vocal sample. The Farro Jarro production is then spruced up with the surge of a voluptuous bassline; accentuated by sprinkles of snaps and the eventual onset of torrid, trap drums. Over it all, Da Twin Prince gives a performance fitting for the new year. Both vocally and lyrically, the East Coast crooner seems refined on this record. He easily slips into heart-turning harmonies and amorous melodies, both devoted to sending a significant message to his significant other: any one before him was just “Preparation and Practice” for the love he’ll give. When a penchant for songwriting meets a talented taste for melody, artists like Da Twin Prince naturally result. And when that force is at its most sensuous, infectious peak, bangers like “Preparation and Practice” must be anticipated. Just wait until the radio gets a hold of this. Da Twin Prince will have everyone from New York, and beyond, singing right along.

From DJ Hollywood, to DJ Paul, and the iconic DJ Quik, there’s a strong lineage of emcee/DJs rooted in this culture. One that a particular, Maryland creative refuses to disappoint. Surfing on our airwaves, with an impressive tidal of DMV trap music, is Baltimore’s own, DJ Waterzz. After years of DJing, the multi-talented musician is making a return to the art he first loved; giving us a storm of bangers and bars with “Sea - EP”. “Sea - EP” is four tracks of turn-up-worthy trap music; energized by a pack of diverse beats, and DJ Waterzz’s own versatile flows. Seamlessly, the rapper dives from the bubbly, CashMoney AP-produced “Popular”, into the devilish “Uh Huh”. He backstrokes briefly through the rapid-fire track, “Jumped Off”, before arriving on the modern-trap shore of “No Numbers”. This package makes for a concise journey into DJ Waterzz’s abilities as a rapper; showcasing not only his incredible ear for beats, but likewise a knack for destroying them.
